Physical Description		Jas is of mixed Indian descent, her skin is a light brown. Her hair is long and black. Jas is physically fit, probably a bit more than most in the Sciences are expected to be. A fan of football and since living in San Francisco for several years she has started to take an appreciation for baseball. Jas isn’t tall but she doesn’t let her size keep her down. Her black hair is often tied up in a twin braid, or some other intricate style.

General Overview

Jas is a brilliant scientist, or will be once she has some more experience under her belt. For now she is inquisitive, almost curious to a fault and is very excitable once she gets on a roll. Jas is also in love with space travel, she wants to see as many worlds as she can. Wanting to join Starfleet since she was a young girl like her aunt Preeti, Jas has been very conflicted about spending more time being trained to be a soldier than a scientist. Getting her assignment to Venture has been exhilarating, but nerve wracking as being assigned to a ship so as well known for tis prowess in combat as its scientific discoveries.

Personal History		Youngest daughter of the Chakrabarti shipping empire Jas didn’t quite fit in with her siblings. Growing up she always wanted to be outside, digging in the dirt, climbing a tree, or staring up at the Stars. Despite her interest in space and seeing other worlds she never wanted to run freight. Far too busy enjoying the stories of her aunt Preeti, and pretending she was along with the elder Chakrabarti than learning the family business. Still as a teen she was trained, even sent on a short haul run to learn how to handle a ship. She certainly embraced space travel, just not how her parents intended. Jas had spent the whole trip tinkering with the sensors and reading everything the database held about what was outside of Earth’s solar system. This interest never changed, continuing on through her education and finally culminating in her applying for Starfleet. As much as she enjoyed tinkering Jas found she had a passion and a knack for the Sciences. The same eagerness to explore and find a way around a mechanical problem worked well for Astronomical theory. Jas was accepted into Starfleet Academy in 2371, about six months before Voyager lost in the Badlands, the Enterprise was destroyed on Veridian III, and the Cardassians nearly started a war with the Dominion. Needless to say her parents weren’t happy and wanted her to resign and come home. But Jas was stubborn; she stuck it out, hoping that it wouldn’t get worse. It did. As tensions increased the Academy put less emphasis on Scientific training and discovery being apart of the curriculum In her second year Jas had scores high enough to qualify her to join Red Squad. She did but felt uneasy around many of the others. After their part in the sabotage of Earth’s power grid Jas resigned form the group and nearly from the Academy as a whole. Her aunt talked her out of it, reminded her that Chakrabarti’s didn’t quit and their ancestors who had also served would be proud of her decision. It was her aunt’s support and strength that kept Jas in the Academy and kept her learning. Even as Starfleet wanted her to become a soldier she endeavored to become a scientist. In her fourth year the War had been raging, losses were mounting, many in the Cadet Corps were being activated early. Starfleet hadn’t mandated it yet, but basically any Cadet that completed the required tactical and specialty courses could commission and enter active service. As time went on there was a certain stigma assigned to those who didn’t volunteer despite qualifying. It made jas more uncomfortable everyday. But her luck held, the war ended before graduation and Jas could join the Fleet as the scientist she’d always dreamed of being.
